The generator uses sRGB simulations to calculate relationships. A digital tint adds white mathematically; a printed spot-color tint usually uses screening, paper showing through the ink, or a separately mixed lighter ink. Those methods can differ in grain, opacity, saturation, and contrast. Metallics, fluorescents, coatings, and colored substrates introduce effects that an ordinary monitor cannot show.
When handing a palette to production, include the complete Pantone references, the intended library and finish, the planned printing process, and an approved physical reference. If a color will be converted to CMYK, evaluate the process result separately rather than assuming it will retain the appearance of the spot-color simulation.
